Marne Levine, vice president of global partnerships at Facebook Inc, was named the social media giant's first chief business officer on Thursday.

Levine, 50, stated that she will lead Facebook's advertising division and global partnerships and will report to Sheryl Sandberg, Chief Operating Officer.

“I’m excited to share that I am taking on a new role as Facebook’s Chief Business Officer. This is a new position overseeing Facebook’s advertising business and global partnerships, said Levine, in a Facebook post.

“It is a privilege to be leading a business that enables economic and social change for our global partners, helping them to create their brand, build their community, and grow their business through the innovative solutions we offer across our platforms.”

During her almost a decade-long tenure at the company, Levine has held a variety of managerial positions, including a chief operating officer of Instagram.

David Fischer, Facebook's Chief Revenue Officer who handled the advertising business and supervised sales and marketing teams globally, said earlier this year that he will depart the company by the end of 2021.

Moreover, the social media giant is planning to convert its live online events into a pay-per-view option for sports leagues that use the platform for broadcasting their games and says the move will help make more money for businesses including sports companies.
