Unvaccinated persons are 11 times more likely than vaccinated people to die from Covid-19, a major study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention discovered.

The research looked at Covid-19 cases, hospitalizations, and fatalities in 13 states and “and found further evidence of the power of vaccination,” according to CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky in a press conference Friday, CNBC reported.

From April through mid-July, more than 600,000 Covid cases were evaluated and matched to vaccination status.

Unvaccinated people were roughly 4.5 times more likely to develop the virus, more than 10 times more likely to be hospitalised with it, and 11 times more likely to die from it.

A previous CDC study revealed that unvaccinated persons werefive times more likely to develop Covid and 29 times more likely to behospitalised with the virus in Los Angeles County between May and July, based on data from just 43,127 Covid cases in the county between May and July.

According to the CDC, around 54 percent of the U.S. population is completely vaccinated.

“Vaccination works,” Walensky said. “We have the scientific tools we need to turn the corner on this pandemic.”

Officials in the United States are hoping that the Food and Drug Administration's clearance of Pfizer and BioNTech's Covid vaccine would encourage some unvaccinated Americans to finally receive the injections.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, a White House senior medical advisor, earlier said that if the United States can get through the winter and vaccinate the majority of individuals who have not received the injections, the country might have some control over the virus by the spring.
