Microsoft has acquired Seattle-based startup, Ally.io, which assists an organization in keeping track of their progress on a key goal, for an undisclosed amount.

On Thursday, Microsoft published a blog announcing the acquisition and revealed its plans to turn Ally.io's objectives and key results (OKR) function into a new module in its Viva employee-experience platform.

Founded in 2017, by former Microsoft employee, Vetri Vellore, former Microsoft employee, the startup’s list of customers includes Dropbox and Salesforce’s Slack.

Ally.io’s software has an OKR functionality that identifies goals and evaluates progress using measurements. The start-up’s dashboards and customizable tools will become part of Microsoft’s Viva software.

The company introduced the Viva software in February and made it accessible through its Teams app. Viva provides workers with learning materials, information from corporate documents, and productivity suggestions.

Chief operating officer and corporate vice president of Microsoft’s experiences and devices division, Kirk Koenigsbauer, wrote in a blog post, “Ally.io and Microsoft Viva will enrich how people and teams come together to build alignment and achieve better business outcomes.

“Over the next year, we’ll be investing to bring Ally.io into the Microsoft cloud, evolve the existing integrations with Microsoft Teams, and weave Ally.io into Viva, Office, Power BI, and the broader set of Microsoft 365 apps and services,” he wrote.
