Virgin Galactic reported second-quarter results on Thursday and announced reopening of ticket sales with starting price of $450,000 per seat.

The company announced next spaceflight test is targeted on late September from Spaceport America in New Mexico with the members of the Italian Air Force.

Shares of the company surged 4% in after-hours trading.

The company posted an adjusted EBITDA loss of $56 million in the quarter, compared to $55.9 million in the previous quarter. Revenue of $571,000 was generated in the quarter from scientific research experiments.

The space tourism company flew two spaceflight tests in the quarter with the second flight carrying founder Richard Branson.

Virgin Galactic is conducting spaceflight tests to finally begin the passenger flights in early 2022. About 600 reservations are made for future flights with ticket prices between $200,000 and $250,000.

The company noted that sales will initially prioritize Virgin Galactic’s “significant list of early hand-raisers,” with a “follow-on priority list” to be opened for new customers, reported CNBC.
