Okta says service fully operational, no signs of breach

A hacking group LAPSUS$ posted images of the company’s internal systems

Okta said the images are most likely related to an earlier security incident in January

Identity-management provider Okta Inc. (NYSE: OKTA) said on Tuesday it has not been breached as hackers posted images of the company’s internal systems.

“The Okta service has not been breached and remains fully operational. There are no corrective actions that need to be taken by our customers,” the company said in a statement.

The San Francisco-based company said after investigations it found the screenshots posted by the hackers are most likely related to an earlier security incident in January.

Okta manages access to more than 15,000 multinational companies’ systems and verify users’ identities.

A hacking group LAPSUS$ posted screenshots on Telegram claiming it has gained access to Okta.com’s administrator and other systems.

Okta said in a statement that the screenshots are related to an attempted security breach in January which has been already resolved.

“We take our responsibility to protect and secure our customers' information very seriously. We are deeply committed to transparency and will communicate additional updates when available,” the company said.
